19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
